Methodological Study of Tafsir Nūr al-Ihsān According to al-Dhahabī’s Perspective: Analysis of Tafsir Sources, Narrations, and Interpretation Patterns

Research on Tafsir Nūr al-Ihsān continues to develop, but methodological studies that assess the consistency of sources, narrations, and interpretative patterns based on the standards of modern tafsir studies are still limited. This study aims to analyze the methodology of Tafsir Nūr al-Ihsān from the perspective of al-Dhahabī, as one of the significant figures in tafsir criticism. The approach used is qualitative, employing descriptive-analytic methods and content analysis through the review of primary texts as well as supporting literature. The research results show that Tafsir Nūr al-Ihsān combines tafsir bi al-ma’thūr and bi al-ra’yi with a variety of styles, including fiqh, sufi, scientific, and social-literary perspectives. However, based on al-Dhahabī’s framework, weaknesses were found in the verification of narrations, source transparency, and the systematic organization of the writing, which affect its methodological accuracy. This study emphasizes the importance of methodological evaluation in examining the heritage of Nusantara tafsir to align with contemporary academic needs. These findings have implications for strengthening the study of tafsir methodology in educational institutions and creating opportunities for the development of comparative research on other local tafsir works.
